Iain Forbes is the head of the UK Government's Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, a policy unit based jointly in the Department for Transport and the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The Centre aims to help ensure that the UK remains a world leader in developing and testing connected and autonomous vehicles.
Prior to joining CCAV Iain worked in No10 as a Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, covering issues including transport and the devolved administrations. He has previously worked in both the Department for Transport and the Home Office, advising on innovation, science and technology, security policy and environmental strategy.
CCAV is a DfT organisation tasked with driving transport innovation in the UK.
Iain will offer insight into the latest research projects, looking at how connected and autonomous vehicles will make road transport safer and more accessible to all and how the fleet sector will need to adapt in order to thrive in a connected future.
National and local government policies will change the way companies move their people, goods and services about with major implications for those supplying the vehicles, funding and fleet services. This conference is the perfect opportunity to hear about those policies in more detail from those responsible for setting the strategies, to understand how it will affect your business in the coming years and what you can do now to help your customers prepare for change.
There are huge changes coming to urban mobility. City mayors and authorities are responding to pressure for cleaner air and healthy streets, and technological changes, with new policies designed to create cleaner and connected cities with more sustainable transport. This event will give fleet managers the chance to hear what cities are planning and how leading companies are responding and adapting. If you are involved in fleet management, this event will help you plan for the future.
